Alive & Well holds free community events every
third Wednesday evening of each month (except June) in West Hollywood,
California.
Our monthly events take place in West Hollywood
Park located at 647 North San Vicente Boulevard between Santa Monica and
Melrose Avenue across the street from the Pacific Design Center, the multistory
blue building on the east side of San Vicente. You may call West Hollywood
Park at 323-848-6534 for more detailed directions.
We currently meet in The Sky Room which is at the
end of the corridor just behind the park office. The park office is north
of the parking lot and to the east of the playground. Since the office
remains open during the evening, you can ask park personnel for help in
finding the Sky Room.
Limited free parking is available in the West Hollywood
Park lot by the tennis courts. You can also find metered parking on the
street.
We begin our events at 6:30 PM with Relax, Its Just
Information, an overview of basic facts that challenge common assumptions
about HIV and AIDS presented by Alive & Well founder Christine Maggiore.
Following this 45 minute introduction, and depending on the evening, we
may have an informative guest speaker, a panel of HIV positives taking
alternative approaches to life and health, a film or an informal discussion.
We offer free information packs and a free copy of
our book What If Everything You Thought You Knew About AIDS Was Wrong?
to all first time attendees, and healthy vegetarian snacks for all our
guests.
Recent past speakers and topics at our events include:
|
|
Nutritionist and author Nancy Appleton, PhD on how diet and emotions affect the immune system
| |
|
Hypnotherapist Matt Sison on losing unfounded fears about HIV and AIDS
| |
| Naturopathic physician Dr. Richard De Andrea, MD on real causes of disease and practical paths to good health
| |
| Author Michael Wisner on simple ways to live healthy in a toxic world
| |
| Co-developer of the original HIV test Dr. Rodney Richards on why HIV tests cannot diagnose HIV infection
| |
| Panel discussions with HIV positives who live without AIDS drugs
| |

Want Support in Your Area?
If you would like to start or participate in an Alive & Well peer support group in a city not mentioned above, please let us know. We may be able to put you in touch with others in your area that share your interests. Just send an email that includes your name, the city where you live, a brief description of the kind of activity you wish existed, and how youd like to become involved in making it happen (join a group, lead a group, offer a meeting place, etc). Please use the subject heading A & W Peer Support. We will reply with contact information for people near you with similar desires and ideas.
If youre feeling alone or uncertain in your choices, want to learn from the experiences of others, connect with people in similar circumstances or find out what life is like without the meds, ask us about online support.
Our Med Free Peer Support Contact List lets you exchange experiences and ideas with HIV positives that have quit or never taken AIDS drugs.
The 200 Club Contact List is available for those who wish to communicate with HIV positives living with 200 T cells or less and without AIDS meds.
Click here to request one or both of these contact lists.
